I’m making brown butter chocolate chip cookies with pecans tonight. We like to make a batch and freeze them, so we can have a couple on the weekends without going crazy. The whole house smells of them.
A friend (see his blog link — The Juggling Writer — over there) mentioned 1000 Words of Summer, which is a little mailing list driven thing about writing a thousand words a day for awhile this month. It starts Monday. I think I’m going to do it.
I haven’t really written fiction since my breakdown, seven years ago. I’m in a much better place now. I’ve been reading some of my old stuff and wow, I it’s clear to me how much pain I was in, and how I was trying to write my way out of it.
I don’t need to do that anymore. I think, I hope, I can just write some stuff. We’ll see. If I do, I may post about it, or even post it. Who knows. Depends on how awful it is.
Yeah, at the time of the breakdown, you were also working on a ridiculously personal (and painful) work.
I know, even if it’s just sharing stories among friends, that people like us are wired to write to our best abilities. But there are so many things we chatted about back in the Write Club days that weren’t as personal, and you’re so damn good.
So…I wish you all the best with putting down some words!

I have some writer friends who might also be interested in the writing 1000 words a day project… She just started something last night that is far from her typical interests, and she likes what she has thus far!
As for me, I would like that cookie recipe! Still a fat girl at heart and would like to copy that idea to freeze them and have one on the weekends!

It;s just Bon Appetit’s recipe below. I added pecans and subbed in some cane sugar for brown sugar because I was out.
